Bela Fleck and the Flecktones

Tags: , , , ,

I’ve known Mr. Fleck’s name for a few years, mostly because of his “Ten from little worlds album“, and if I weren’t lazy (and ill) I would post some songs from that album as well.. All the time I thought he was the bass player, or the composer or the guitar player, but I never thought he was the banjo player. Yes, banjo.. and quite good at that too.. He’s even won a grammy!.

The music of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, is hard to label, he’s using banjo but not making country music, the songs are a melodic fusion of bluegrass, jazz, world music, funk and whatever comes their way.. eclectic to say the least. The Flecktones are a great band as well, they are not a `support` band to Bela Fleck, but they are great musicians themselves.

Their new one “The Hidden Land” is clearly the best album I’ve listened to in February, once again it has more than enough songs to choose from. The first song is lead by a soothing flute melody, with great basswork in the middle. The second song is lead by Bela’s banjo, and has a 90s pop-jazz approach to it, be sure not to miss this album, as it has great instrumentation and many more cool melodies/songs. This is avant bluegrass (ok I’ve made that up.) at its best, and should I add .. no vocals!

I think that without Bela's back up the man could definately not stand alone.

Bela is not that talented, nor are his band mates. None of them can stand alone, not for more then three minutes.

I think that these people are frauds and only into for the money, and they play like wind up dolls. They lack passion.

I think that Bela promotes trashy albums such as; Traveling Daughter by Abigail Washburn. The woman is difficult on the ears at times she is quite unbearable.

    Her music is predictable.
It is just part of trash culture.

Bela is not an equal to Jeff Coffin.
I think everyone in this band is inferior to Jeff Coffin. I am an Africian American, and I can say, I don't see color.

Bela Fleck is a souless, passion, machine.

He is not a great artist.

    Their drummer sucks.

I think that Bela Fleck is a technician. I am not impressed.

Sorry, people know about great music, will tell you, these people are way over-rated.

    Jeff Coffin is a great.

The beauty is all in his instrument. Without Jeff this band would utterly suck completely.

I wish they would take bela off stage.

    Where he belongs.

The bango could be better, if he were better.

Not everyone is dumb. I am not dumb enough to fall for this sham.

If they were not over-rated, he should know that this bangoess has only a very tiny bit of talent. So tiny that no many people will be interested in her.

HE isn't a good enough musician to hear that she isn't a great singer or writer.
That right there is proof enough that Bela Fleck has no real serious talent.
His taste in music says it all.

He is into rap too isn't he?
Laugh. I think some instruments are not as beautiful as others...
Banjo isn't the only instrument that fits in this catagory.

Sorry guys, Bela fleck is an amazing musician. First of all, he writes all of the songs. Also, if you really think he sucks try listening to some of the stuff he does with edger myer. Some of those compisitions are so complex that it makes my mind hurt just thinking about them. Bela fleck has done for the banjo what jimmi hendrix did for the eletric guitar. Also, I dont think jeff coffien is the most talented of the 4, in fact, back from 1990 to like 1995 they didnt even have jeff, they had a man by the name of howard levy. Howard Levy was by far the most talentled of the group because of his piano playing and most of all because of the way he can play the harmonica.
He is one of the first people to be able to play a harmonica in a fully chromatic fassion. I.E. he can pick up an E harmonica and play a song in any key and then pick up a G harmonica and play the same song in any key.... You guys obviously dont get what a diefines a good musicain... ANd if you were to see this group live you might change your tune... Pun intended.

Exuse me, I just don't think they write that well. Edgar myere, whatever his name is , doesn't make my mind hurt.
and Bela Flek, whatever his name is, doesn't have a job. He is losing his job. He was cut from sony records and is on his last leg.
The man doesn't have that keen sensitivity that goes hand in hand with being one of the finest.
Jimi hendrix didn't impress me on the radio.
That Purple song, whatever it is called was way over-rated.
I hear the beauty in this music.
    Not on a deep level.
And these people are not deep people.
This man Bela Fleck or Bela Flek however you write it...
is about to find himself searching in the jobs section with his Hillybilly friend Abby Washburn.
Soon they will really be hillybillies..seaching for jobs and unable to find a place to take a bath.
They are boring people to tears.
Bela is full of himself and his spiraling out of control into bankruptcy.
He is desperately trying to make this nothing a star.
This man truly believes that untalented sell. If he continues to go in this direction, he too will be in the discount rack.
Bela is not going to be a well known person very shortly.
If Bela was that smart that his brain caused other people's brains to hurt, he wouldn't be dumb enough to bore people, and stupid enough to promote people with extremely little amounts of talent.
Bela is on his way out , and so is Edgar.
They better face facts. Their arrogant days are numbered, no one is interested in them anymore.
