A quick roundup of some netlabel releases I’ve enjoyed this month

Daniel Maze’s Treehugger EP on 12rec is his take on different styles of electronica, mostly minimal and moody, sometimes in the vein of Jan Jelinek , but with unique twists on each tracks, no boring tracks on this one, it’s a versatile EP, and I’m looking forward to listening to more stuff from him.

Sushitech Err9r Compilation on Minlove is a 14 track compilation that adds up to a hefty 146mb. Nothing ground breaking here on this album but some good tracks with a wide range of electronic/ minimal house / techno dance tracks. It seems to be a good community as well focusing on minimal dance music with releases, reviews and playlists..

There’s also some wonderful releases (and 50% price off) on No Type. Firstly Dhomontèlements, 14 remixes of composer Francis Dhomont by some interesting contemporary artists like Books on Tape, Sam Shalabi (of Shalabi Effect), Kevin M. Krebs, Headphone Science and more.. Mostly drone and noise, but don’t let this scare you, there are more accessible songs for easy listeners as well :). Second release from No Type is by Sam Shalabi and cartoonist Billy Mavreas together as Poseidon Council. This is some weird theatrical kraut synth progressive rock with heavy focus on vocals in some songs. Pretty non traditional and irritating at times like a Pasolini movie, it’s not suited for the light hearted, but definitely interest some readers of undomondo.

Poseidon Council - Manticore
Poseidon Council - Driad
Shalabi Effect - Blue Sunshine
Shalabi Effect - We’ll never make it out of here alive

There’s also the Sgnl_Fltr (aka Daniel Kreutzfeldt) release on Stadt Gruen. Atrum is a deep (very) and gloomy minimal techno, at some times reminding a deeper and noisier Studio 1. It’s cold and mechanical, but some like it that way!

Sgnl_Fltr - Quanta 1

Microtonner release on Laridae is hard to categorize. According to the label, it’s a `post-rock-industrial-act` but it’s got a synth/electro pop feel to it as well, dunno why. It’s a 10 track release of some depressing dark electronica rock combination, that seems to be quite unheard. Track 2005 features some nice vocal snippets that you should check out.

Microtonner - 2005
Microtonner - Limitation

Finally, 2 releases of contemporary experimental noise drone ambience (well you know what I mean!) on Conv.
#28 Rodrigues, Sehnaoui x2 - sable EP . 22 minutes of ambient sound collage with that is definitely a good background music with a story to tell, and also #27 by Kevin M. Krebs (which I mentioned above) with more or less in the same vein, but with a different story.

Rodrigues, Sehnaoui, Sehnaoui - Sable
Kevin M. Krebs - Absolutely Ignorant
