Safety Scissors - Tainted Lunch
Greetings,I’ve been having trouble finding review-worthwhile music lately. I don’t know why, I just hope that i haven’t become snobbish to the extent of not liking anything anymore. Let’s just cut the crap by saying music can be tiring sometimes and start talking about the owner of these quotes:
“Anonymity is much more interesting. It’s silly when people say they are an artist or a musician. They’re just trying to cover up for something else that they don’t have a girlfriend or smell bad or suffer from alcoholism.”

Unfortunately for Matthew Patterson Curry or Safety Scissors as we know him, it’s hard to remain anonymous when you’re making music like that. He likes to eat ice cream, ride his bicycle and make minimal techno that shines through a gazillion of the same old clickclacky releases. His earlier releases hadn’t really caught my attention but he got me some time before with his slanty, lighthearted style in “Amnesia” which i guess has become a pretty familiar song in it’s scene by now.
His matchingly pretty album “Tainted Lunch” has not only freshened his image but also his label ~scape’s image by adding new warmth to the label’s cold german attitude (minding the fact that the album was mixed by Vladislav Delay).
Call it micro-house, minimal-techno or the newly acquired “hiccup-funk”, it’s tasteful no matter what you call it.
MP3s removed after contact from label.
Buy the album from Boomkat.
