Went through some netlabel releases in the weekend, but haven’t found the time to post about them on Sunday. I’ve picked one standout track from each release with minimum commentary, because there’s so much good stuff to review and they’re all free, so you can download them and decide for yourself :)
* First release is a 3 song EP on Aquavelvas by Tomputer. Creative electronica with many influences, check the first track featured here!
* 2 great songs from WM Recordings (my recent fave), first one is off a compilation, and it’s a great song with different renditions of the birthday song.. silly!. Second is off Sid Peacock’s EP with some funny social commentary and great sax solo! weird music indeed!
* Some delicious stuff on TonAtom. It’s not like their usual releases, this is a special piece of music, with a strange medieval feeling to it.
* 2 tracks off 2 releases on the Italian Zymogen netlabel..
Songraphie – Saucers Race (experimental electronica) (ZYM03) strange stuff from Moscow.
Ibakusha – Asperité . (glitch / melodic ambient) (ZYM04)* 12 tracks of ambience and drone from Loscil on the Canadian netlabel One..
* More micro-ambience and drone on Bitlab by Hungarian Soutien Gorge.
Soutien Gorge – A jelzőlámpák nem villognak tovább* The Banjo Consorsium has a nice, albeit a little bit badly mastered (?) debut EP here, nice folktronica with banjo sounds, the standout track has been “my.sugar melted” for me, but to check it out you have to get the whole EP.
* Mothers against noise compilation No.1A nice way to start 2006 : a free Cock Rock Disco Compilation featuring Duran Duran Duran, Doormouse, Vorpal and more.. (IDM and breakcore)
