Greetings. I have heard from a reliable source, that the minimal techno gods wanted sacrifice so here i am with these two…
Mersenne, has told me that Sao Paris reminded him of Agf/Delay. That is true but without the cold European attitude. Not that i’m against Europeans, really, I am a big fan of Europeans but this takes “down” out of downtempo. Not unlike the Brasilian reference in the name, the soft flat tones are tinted with a certain warmth, which is what you get if you are a French electronic musician with a Brasilian vocalist.
Unlike many minimal downtempo releaseses, the album is not a whole matter of atmosphere which you can’t differentiate one song from another. Every song is full of pretty much bull’s eye personality, even fused with some broken beat every now and then. I actually asked for help whether to choose this song or that to post.
Please admire their album movimento and give your regards to f comm for laying the chunky beats beside for a change and putting some great downtempo out there for us.
Sao Paris – Samba de Injustica
Gustav is another story. It’s a “she” by the way, don’t let a moniker fool you. Switching from English to German to French, Gustav aka Eva Jantschitsch has so many stories to tell like her American patriot brother or One handed Mona who married Karl. You don’t know what i’m talking about of course, but there is one way to figure it out since I am curious about the German lyrics and need someone to translate me. “Rettet Die Vale” is a lush, dusky, mysterious scrapbook of an album that “takes you away” again with our all so favoured switching between styles. I can’t believe I said “takes you away” though, I thought I had buried that phrase years ago in some newspaper’s weekend supplement.
anyways, yay for the winter attitude.
