2 priceless electro covers

← Previous : Jewish Twists of Solomon Schwartz ||| Next : Winter Fiesta

The first one is a cover of Frank Zappa’s controversial song Bobby Brown by Queen of Japan from 2001. Yeah I know, when it’s not sung by Zappa it’s not the same anymore, but nevertheless this is a cheerful and uptempo electro cover by Mr. Platzgummer, and the vocals seem like r&b now.

The second one is Manekin by DMX Krew, and it’s a cover of Kraftwerk’s Showroom Dummies with Japanese vocals. Ed DMX is THE weird analog electro guy from Rephlex, who has been into electro when anything remotely electro was ridiculed as shit. His enthusiasm as an electro pioneer has made electro a respectable genre (no i don’t mean electro-house, that’s still highly unrespectable), and who else deserves the title of pioneer but ol’ Ed.

PS : Ok, the post was over, but this last song has found an association in my head. Here’s an even less known Kraftwerk cover from an obscure compilation, by a guy named Hikashu, he’s singing The Model in Japanese over his version. Silly!
