Volapük is an avantgarde band, formed by French drummer and composer Guigou Chenevier in the early 90s with cellist Guillaume Saurel and clarinetist Michel Mandel. Their avantgarde sound is very accessible, and with the addition of ex-After Dinner violinist Takumi Fukushima, the band has created a masterful album. Pitchfork defined their sound as a mixture of folk, gypsy music and circus music which i truly agree, it’s definitely a strange and unique melting pot of prog rock and jazz as well.

Volapük is also primarily the name of a constructed language like esperanto.

Edit : I’m just terribly in love with this Nusrat song, masterful vocals and melody.. if you liked the Lumiinari Orchestra and the Tin Hat Trio songs from a few days ago you should definitely check this out.
