Sunday Roundup
So many links so few time!
I forgot to mention the new Sufjan Stevens on Gorilla vs Bear yesterday, go check it out while the link is still working, and also read this interview with him. (I thought Sufjan was a ethnic hippy personality like Devendra, i’m shocked!)
Check out the In-Tune blog, for a guide in unsigned / netlabel electronica and reviews. I particularly liked the Photophob release on Earstroke.
I was going to buy some stuff from Buy Olympia, a store i found out about yesterday, I was looking for some Deerhoof merchandise and saw lots of nice books and mags and stuff, however I had to pay 60% of the cost as shipping, therefore I cancelled all. We need teleportation now!
I watched some excerpts from a concert in Turkey yesterday. It was by this man Dariush. Who has been banned in his country Iran for 27 years. The important thing is, this guy didn’t come to Turkey to sing to Turks, the place was full of people from Iran, as if meeting in a secret place by word of mouth. They sung about freedom and cried after their country overtaken by Mollas.
A moving scene, it was.
An example of collaborative art, by who else but one of the forerunners of the ANSI scene, ICE.
Lots to check out and think about the future uses of collaborative art.
And more net.art your way with the help of Furtherfield. Innovative and inspirational stuff, involving code, linguistics and art!
