What a remarkable debut LP from Henrik Jonsson aka Porn Sword Tobacco!. and what a wonderful name to name your identity. An album recorded in a studio in the middle of a Swedish forest (probably with Sid Meiers’ Pirates on the mind, or am I the only one who thinks the music or the name has a relation with pirates?), this album is emotionally laden like an Ulrich Schnauss album minus the weak drum programming of him *sorry* (as a matter of fact I now realize that both artists are on City Centre Offices)

Old booze new friends, is a downtempo waltz, with ambient noises and an electric piano, a sad and emotional piece reminding me of a forgotten old radio show theme music. White Sneakers is a different story, relaxed and easygoing, it only has a bass and a monophonic synth playing some melodies.. I mean, come on it’s pretty hard to create a piece this beautiful with this much elements.

While the IDM world is getting bogged down with DSP FX and stuck with too much going on in the songs, this man comes up and says stop!, let’s calm our heads a little bit! A must buy!
