…aaaaaaaand here comes the world heavy weight boxing champion! Rocky Marsiano aka D-Mars.

Well, I wanted to write extensively about him, but every link to him or his excellent album “The Pyramid Sessions” on Loop Recordings, (even his artist info on Loop) is in Portuguese.
But thanks to the Babelfish translation service i’ve got some clues ! :)

D-Mars is a hiphop producer from Lisbon, and his style fuses old 50’s jazz styles into blunted instrumental hiphop beats, you know like early DJ Cam stuff, with vibrophone solos, occasional scratching, incredible jazzy melodies, moody pads, the swing bass, the guitar solos.. It really made me go to the late 40s 50s boxing scene, with cuban cigars in my hand, listening to jazz in a classy jazz venue while eating my lobster after my boxer has won the title fight..

well, ok call me a day dreamer, but listen to Rocky Marsiano..
